New Line and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes horror production company are moving forward with plans to create a new horror franchise based around the Freddy Krueger character.
The first rumblings about the new Freddy flick surfaced earlier this month on Bloody-Digusting.com. A source told the genre-tracking website, "Everything you've heard before has been scrapped (prequel) and they're back at square one."
New Line and Bay are also working on new movies around the Jason Voorhees character.
A script for the new Freddy movie won't be completed until the writer's strike ends.
I don't care how old he is, makeup solves everything. If it's not Robert Englund, then there's no point.

i agree, i mean id like to see a new freddy but i dunno...hopefully they make robert more badass than fredy vs jason

Well now that american Horror films can be filled with gore and be disturbing again this could be awesome, shame there not doing a prequel anymore but that was probably a good idea on there part

freddy's my favorite oldschool american horror icon. i'm really looking forward to any offering they want to send my way. the horror genre has really went down hill as of late, aside from a few gems such as hatchet, and behind the mask.

well if you ask me i think they should make a freddy vs jason2. why have both of them in separate movies? and if they do make a sequel to freddy vs jason they should add a extra person like micheal myers not that would be a show that people would want to see

if it aint robert englund then new line can stick there ideas up there ass. at least cgi freddy wit roberts voice, noone can take robert's place so stop tryin to replace him! its like tryin to replace ash in evil dead or replacing your mom or dad, robert englund is a part of all of us, so new line cinema be original. make a movie with robert englund or forget it all around, go destroy a franchise nobody gives a s**t about.
